The European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN, www.ecrin.org), a public research organisation, is currently recruiting a Communication Officer, to be based at its headquarters in Paris, France. This is a 1 year full-time contract with the possibility of extension.
 

About ECRIN:
ECRIN is a not-for-profit European research infrastructure, specialising in multinational clinical research for all medical disciplines. 
ECRIN connects national clinical research networks, mostly academic clinical trial units having the capacity to manage clinical trials on the national level. ECRIN provides information, consultations and operational clinical trial tasks and services to Sponsors and/or investigators of clinical trials initiated by academic investigators or small and medium-sized enterprises. ECRIN’s involvement covers all clinical trial activities, from study planning and preparation of grant applications to the set-up and conduct of multinational clinical trials in any disease area. 
ECRIN also contributes to a growing portfolio of EU-funded projects to develop new services, tools, and knowledge to meet the needs of medical research communities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced communicator who wishes to further develop his/her career in clinical research and to operate as part of an international team. 
Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the main duties of the Communication Officer will include the following: 
 

  • Implement concrete activities as outlined in the communication strategy:
    • maintenance and upgrade of the content of the website (with the support of IT specialists)
    • develop documents for internal use, and contribute to the internal newsletter
    • create documents for external communication, including the external newsletter, brochures, flyers, and social media
    • support writing and proof reading of scientific articles
  • Organisation of conferences and workshops in different locations (both onsite and online with participants from across Europe). 
    • Support the organisation of ECRIN’s Annual events (International Clinical Trials Day & CTU Day), training workshops / webinars, and project events as required by project managers
    • Responsible for all event logistics in collaboration with any associated partner or project manager.
  • Work directly with the project manager or European Correspondent to support communication activities in ECRIN-coordinated or participating projects.
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Requirements:

  • University degree in health, life science or related discipline (preferably an advanced degree) 
  • At least 2 years experience in the field of medical writing/scientific communication in the health sector, experience of a communication or marketing function in a clinical research or drug development environment (essential)
  • At least 2 years experience in international event planning (both online and face-to-face events).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory (English mother tongue desired or equivalent)
  • Editorial excellence, producing clear, accurate, grammatically correct and creative texts 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Experience on Twitter, LinkedIn, Drupal, Canva and InDesign are distinct advantages
  • Critical-thinking skills, attention to factual detail and accuracy, and the ability to see relationships between ideas and organise complex information
  • Ability to translate clinical research into accurate but approachable language, and to tailor the information to audiences that include policymakers, funders, healthcare professionals, patients, or the general public
  • Experience in operating at European level and working in an international environment
     

The post is under the hierarchical responsibility of the ECRIN Communications Manager. The post is a 1-year contract according to French law. We can consider applications for part-time employment. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
