EU-CELAC Exchange Meeting

The EU-CELAC working group on Research Infrastructures was created within the framework of the EU-CELAC Joint Initiative on Research and Innovation, with the purpose of sharing insight on research infrastructures in Europe and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

A study visit  of the working group took place in Barcelona from June 19-20th, 2019, with representatives from Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Honduras, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama. The delegates had the opportunity to visit with representatives from both distributed and centralised European research infrastructures.

On June 19th, the delegates, hosted by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), visited the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. Here, they learned about the Spanish Clinical Research Network (SCReN), a national research infrastructure, and about ECRIN, a distributed European research infrastructure (SCReN is ECRIN's national scientific partner). The following day, the delegates visited the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre.
